Tour of Lake District

With a 21 month old at home reviving my admiration of Beatrix Potter and the release of the new Peter Rabbit movie this year, I was delighted to introduce this new 6 night self-guided literary walking tour of the English Lake District. Also the inspiration for writers like Wordworth, Ransome and dozens of other artists and poets, the Lake District is a place of incredible natural beauty, idyllic and exhilarating in equal measure.

Stay at the Wordsworth Spa and Hotel in Grasmere, visit Lake Windermere, the largest natural lake in England.  Explore Rydal Hall, Wordsworth’s family home, St Oswald’s Church, his final resting place, his residence Dove Cottage and the Wordsworth Museum.  Enjoy the stunning scenery along the Cumbrian Way walk.  Visit Coniston Water which served as inspiration for Arthur Ransom’s Swallows and Amazons.  Visit the home of Victorian artists, philosopher and writer John Ruskin.  Travel to Sawrey’s Hilltop farm, a much loved retreat of Beatrix Potter, see her original writing desk and wander the pretty cottage garden that inspired many of her best loved tales. The National Trust’s Beatrix Potter Gallery in the centre of Hawkshead is also well worth stopping in at.
