The Danube truly is an excellent region for cycling. The terrain is totally flat along the tow paths next to the wide river with no motorised traffic to worry about. Quaint riverside towns, riverside castles and crumbling monasteries punctuate the forested landscape next to the river. Riverside beer gardens dotted along the route offer well spaced refreshment breaks with tasty Eastern European beers, coffees apple strudels and snitchels to tempt you.
We offer a number of self-guided cycling tour itineraries along the river including the Eastern European Vienna to Budapest route and the Western Passau to Vienna route. Luggage transfers are included with all of our self-guided cycling holidays meaning that you leave your bags in reception when you set out in the morning and find them transferred to the next hotel by the time that you arrive at the final town for the afternoon.
If a small group guided tour sounds more appealing we also offer a Prague to Budapest guided cycling tour which includes a tour guide and a support vehicle carrying the luggage and on occasion our passengers.
